Our Marrakech Desert tour, “4 days/3 nights,” starts with a scenic drive through the impressive high Atlas mountains, connecting with nature and the fascinating desert. Touring along the high Atlas Mountains is a peaceful place to connect yourself to nature, enjoying the scenery of the Tizi n-Tichka Pass. The next step is moving to an argan cooperative and observing some berber women making local products from argan seeds.
Furthermore, continue to one of the well-preserved kasbahs, Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll along the Kasbah and dive into Berber culture and real history. The Kasbah has been featured in some famous movies and TV series; for instance, Game of Thrones, Yummy, Lowrence of Arabia, and more were shot there.
In the afternoon, continue the road through Ouarzazate, famous as an African Hollywood due to its enchanted surroundings and breathtaking geology; in addition, visit Taourirt Kasbah and the famous Atlas Studio. Moreover, see the gorgeous palm groves of Skoura and visit a nice roses cooperative in Kalaat Mgouna, which holds a festival that takes place in May. Arrive at the rock formation view known as Monkey Fingers before heading to the hotel in Dades Valley.
The following day begins with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, followed by a four-hour drive to Merzouga. Before viewing two additional spots, there will be chances to explore the little village of Tinghir, walk through the Toudra oasis, and then enter the canyons, the best place to climb and hike, as it has been featured in an American TV show called “Expedition Impossible. Continue to Erfoud, the city famous for fossils and date variety; it has an annual date festival that takes place in October.
When we get to Merzouga, our expert camel guide will be there for us. The journey will now take an hour to pass the Erg Chebbi Dunes, ending at the same time as the Saharan sun sets. After taking in the sunset from the top of the sand dunes, we continue on to the desert camp for a fantastic evening. Together with the locals, we enjoy a delectable supper and berber music under a starry sky.
Our explorative desert journey begins after catching a fabulous sunrise and delighhtful breakfast. Firstly, drive over the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, arrive in the nomad family, have a cup of tea, and learn about their lifestyle. In addition, move to an abandoned village where the locals used to work the Galena mine.
Secondly, move to a charming village called Khamlia, where we discover and perform Gnaoua music. Next, have a berber pizza in a traditional restaurant before heading to the Merzouga groves, as we learn how the locals still use the old irrigation system. Consequently, move forward with the accommodation for a relaxed evening after a long day. There would be a chance to try some different activities over the Erg Chebbi dunes, such as buggy riding,quad biking or horseback riding.
On the last day of our Marrakech to desert experience, it is worth getting up early in the morning for a witness and spectacular sunrise. Our journey starts with a drive to Rissani, a small town around the Merzouga Desert. We stroll in a traditional market where locals from different villages gather and do shopping every week. Moreover, we continue over the landmark palm groves of Ziz Valley and arrive in a breathtaking panoramic view where you can take some lovely photographs. We move through Midelt and Azrou, where there will be a chance to meet Barbary macaques. Additionally, we will then visit Ifrane, which, due to its much snow during the winter, is called the little Switzerland of Morocco. Thus, we end our Marrakech Desert Tour with a safe drop-off at your accommodation in Fes.
